Ask for Rahr!…better by far!

I know I have mentioned Rahr before…but I loves them! So this Saturday, I met up with Kyle and MB, to start the beery fun. Rahr had been open since 9am this Sat, as they were hosting a chili cook-off. So we enjoyed our beer to the scents of cooking food, and cumin. The group they had this weekend was a nice background, especially on the harmony-rich covers by Simon and Garfunkle and the Beatles. Bert soon joined us from his bike ride. He only road out to Benbrook and back…45 miles or so! Geez! Next after perusing the chili happenings, we were joined by the Capps-es-es. It was great fun to share beery happiness with Starr and Joe. They had not been before! Just as we are waiting in line to acquire another beer we learn that they are doing a special release of the Iron Thistle. A limited batch of beer crafted with the help of a Scotch brewer that has been winning awards left and right. Joy of all Joys, they are serving it today, for 30 minutes only! I had heard of the remarkable scotch ale from Kyle and MB, but was disappointed in the chance to actually have any. No longer, am I so bereft! It was delicioso! Rich, smooth, not too sweet or heavy, awesome mouth feel, ooooooh so good! I am glad I had the opportunity to try it. I just hope they do more for the future.

My picture is right at the end of the day. We were starving, and beered. This is MB cuddling the very last of her Iron Thistle and chatting to Troy, Starr’s son. Kyle is snapping a pic of me as I am doing the same to him. I hope he posts his. It is way better than mine.
